One World, Many Stories! Celebrate countries and cultures around the world at Beardsley and Memorial Library on Saturday, April 11, 2015, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 am. Meet local community residents from India, China, Dominic Republic, Greece, Finland and more. Experience a variety of cultural music, food, and languages from around the world.

Entertainment for the day will be comic mime Robert Rivest with Every Hero Has a Great Story! at 11:00 a.m. Learn mime and act out your favorite hero. Mr. Rivest will lead audiences on a fun, upbeat journey of everyday heroes, super heroes, and heroes from Greek mythology and popular books. Travel on over to Beardsley and Memorial Library and help us celebrate One World, Many Stories. Find Waldo and win a prize. This program is free and open to the public.

DEEP's Inland Fisheries Division announced that April 11, 2015 will be Opening Day for Fishing in CT.  The state DEEP announced changes to sport fishing regulations including moving opening day of trout season to the second Saturday in April.  The new date offers additional fishing opportunities  to anglers with this change  in the opening date of fishing in CT.  The date provides an additional week of fishing opportunities for both resident and non-resident anglers. 

Oxford Historical Society Presents The Observance of the 150th Anniversary of the Cessation of the Civil War

On April 11, 2015 at 1PM the Oxford Historical Society will present The Observance of the 150th Anniversary of the Cessation of the Civil War at the Oxford Congregational Church.  Part of this celebration will be a bell ringing ceremony.  107 Oxford soldiers donned the Union uniform and descendants wishing to participate can contact the society.
