The Garden Conservancy's Open Days Program continues with the Garden of Ken and Margaret Uhle. This one-acre garden has been designed in a woodland setting among large glacially-deposited rocks. A prominent feature of the garden is its man-made water feature consisting of a winding brook connecting two small lily ponds bordered with yellow and blue flag iris, rushes, and other marginal plants. Woodchip paths meander through the garden characterized by mature oak trees and more than 500 varieties of perennials, shrubs, and understory trees. In another location, a lawn area is surrounded by small groupings of bald cypress, dawn redwood, and a variety of flowering trees. This garden has been designed, installed, and maintained by the owner, a landscape architect, and is a good example of what can be accomplished on a relatively small property. Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission: $5. 6/08/2014 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Fairfield County Open Day Garden of Ken and Margaret Uhle Ridgefield CT.
