Waterbury Symphony presents To the New World on Mar. 13, 2016 | 3 PM at the Naugatuck Valley Community College Fine Arts Center, Waterbury. What makes music sound American? Dvorak's two-year adventure in America gave him an answer, which he used to create his New World Symphony. Check the website for ticket information. The elegant evening will culminate with the Symphony’s performance of Dvorak’s New World Symphony. One of the most powerful of all symphonies, the masterpiece is a tribute to the American spirit, having been written during the composer’s time living in New York.  At 2:00 pm students of WSO’s acclaimed Bravo Waterbury! program will perform onstage at the Fine Arts Center in a free public performance including traditional American music of the kind that inspired Dvorak.

Join A Place Called Hope, a raptor rehabilitation and education center, as they share four birds of prey for an all-ages presentation. This will be an up-close and personal encounter with a hawk, a falcon, and two owls. Learn ways that you can actually help lessen conflicts wildlife may encounter in your own backyards.
