On Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19, 2011 at 12 Noon and 2PM take your Father or Grandfather for a ride aboard the Naugatuck Railroad.  Rides begin at the historic 1881 Thomaston Station currently under restoration.  Board a restored vintage coach and prepare to see a side of the Naugatuck Valley that you just can't get from your car.  Your ride along the Naugatuck River hugs the river's edge, passing through state forest lands.  This is contrasted by the industrial heritage of Waterbury's brass mills, where thousands of men and women toiled daily in the Brass City.  We complete our journey with a view from the spectacular Thomaston Dam.  Leave time to tour the displays at the train depot and explore the charming village of Thomaston.  Reservations are recommended.  Visit the website or call the train station for your tickets.

Colonial Day at Keeler Tavern Museum

From 11 AM until 5 PM.  Colonial Era crafters will display their skills on Museum property and in the Garden House. Blacksmithing, rope twisting, weaving, open hearth cooking, quilting, broom making, face painting, silhouette cutting and other crafts will demonstrated. Some crafts people will sell samples of items made with their special skills. The New Milford Fife & Drum Corps will perform 18th century music, including both military and popular tunes.. There will be special activities for children, including pony rides,  games and much more. As in tavern days, beer will be sold. Food will be available to purchase and enjoy on the terrace. Visit the bakery corner for a treat to bring home. The Museum will be open for tours of the first floor. It will be a fun and educational day for all. Entry fee is $5.00 for anyone five years old or over. Parking will be available at the Congregational Church across Main Street.
