On Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7PM the Bristol Historical Society hosts Karlee Etter who will bring to life Mrs. Clara Wheldon (1830-1911).  Clara was the daughter of Captain Wiliam Kingman and wife of Captain Alexander Wheldon.  She spent more than twenty years at sea in a era when men and women maintained separte spheres; a woman's place was in the home and never within the sphere of men, and especially not onboard any whale ship.  Admission is free for members; $5 for non-members.  Attendance is limited to 100 people.  Doors open at 6:30PM.   Call for further information.

1st Annual Mid-Summer Harvest Festival

On Saturday, July 23, 2011 and Sunday July 24th from 12-5PM the White Silo Farm and Winery is hosting their first annual mid-summer harvest festival.  This event will feature small plates of food prepared with locally grown fruits and vegetables.  Fresh gazpacho, Aioli with young vegetables, Ratatouille, Rhubarb Ice Cream and summer pasta  salad are all confirmed on the menu.  Some surprises will be added.  Admission is free.  Each portion of food is $5.  Free farm museum, winery and field tours will be held throughout the day.  This is a family oriented event with live music each day.
