Family Portrait Day- For a $250 donation to RLT, native son & photographer Thomas Hurlbut will offer a photo session on an RLT Preserve. Register directly by emailing: Hike the Baldwin Preserve One trail hugs the edge of the Van Deusen Preserve swamp and leads to a nice picnic site overlooking a beaver lodge. Another trail follows an old wood road to a crest of a hill that affords distant views of Good Hill. Access the Baldwin Preserve from RT 317 or from Lower County Road.

1 to 4 p.m. IAIS is proud to welcome our former Director of Education, Cherokee writer Karen Coody Cooper. In her new book, Cherokee Wampum War & Peace Belts 1730 to Present, Karen explains how northeastern American Indian tribes were the first to use purple clamshell beads to produce picture records called wampum belts. Dutch traders became short of coins and adopted these valued beads as a medium of exchange. Today, seven ancient wampum belts continue in use by traditional Cherokee ceremonialists in Oklahoma. Karen will be available for questions and signing books with a short talk at 2pm. Books will be available for purchase. Fee: Included in general museum admission of $5 Adults; $4.50 Seniors, $3 Kids; IAIS Members Free.
