Join us Saturday night, January 25th, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, as we hike into the woods to hear the hoots and howls of owls.  The LRWC Owl Prowl will be led by Aviculturist, Nick Tiberio, as he calls to the owls and attempts to draw them close. Nick will provide a quick overview of the types of owls you may see and hear on the hike as well as appropriate prowl etiquette.  Following his presentation, 'owlers' will proceed to nearby fields where Nick will attempt to call in Eastern Screech Owls, Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls. We can't guarantee owl sightings, but you will learn a lot about owls native to our area, their habitats and breeding behavior. Dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. Reservations are needed in advance. LRWC MEMBERS ARE FREE
Non members are $10 for an adult and one child. Additional children are $5 each.

Music With a Mission invites the community to its third annual "Ring in the New Year: Diner & Bells, beginning at 5:30PM on January 25, 2014 at Memorial Hall on the Bethlehem Green.  The event will feature a handbell mini concert followed by a ring and sing with audience participation.  Dinner will include chili, appetizers, breads cheeses, dessert and beverages. Have you ever wondered what animal left those tracks, that scat or that feather in your backyard? Wildlife leave behind clues telling us about their movements and habits.

Primitive Skills Technologist Jamie Leffler will lead a walk through the winter woods identifying animal tracks, interpreting gait and other behaviors from track patterns. He will also demonstrate the technique of creating fire from friction and basic winter survival skills.

Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra Classical Journeys

3 p.m. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Carolyn Engle, cellist Anton Rosler (Antonio Rosetti), Symphony in C, Luigi Boccherini, Cello Concerto in B flat, Franz Joseph Haydn, Symphony #104, The London Come journey with the Orchestra to Bohemia , Italy and England as the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra performs a variety of some of the finest of classical period music. Rosler's joyous and rollicking symphony opens the concert, the Orchestra's Principal Cellist Carolyn Engle performs a concerto by Boccherini and Haydn's sturdy and powerful London Symphony concludes. Concert performed in memory of Michael Masailo, the orchestra's first conductor, Daniel Saccu, former president, Carolyn DeThomas, former treasurer and Bert Orr, former bass player.
