The Owls of Western Connecticut-Tuesday, March 10 | 7 PM | The Studio--Flanders hosts raptor expert Larry Fischer for an in-depth look at the local owls found west of the Connecticut River. This program, illustrated with slides of owls and owlets, focuses on the species that breed in our backyards and nearby woodlots. Larry will discuss how common or rare each species is, what their habitat requirements are, their nesting preferences, and how to encourage some species to nest where they can be easily observed. Some time will be spent on how to improve our species identification skills. $10 members, $15 non-members.  Pre-registration is required.

The talk, which is inspired by the numerous trips Kmetzo has made to Italy since living there in the 1960s, also includes a look at the marble quarries of Massa and Carrara, Italy and the working sculpture studios located at the foot of Italy's marble mountains in Pietrasanta.
