On Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 1PM at the Oxford Center Firehouse bring your own favorite Tea Cup, if you wish, to the Oxford Historical Society's annual Spring Tea. Enjoy Mary Lou Pavlik's depiction of her great great grandmother, Mary Ann Bronson, as seen through Dr. Bronson's Civil War Letters to his wife. Dr. George Bronson, who left his medical practice to join the 11th Connecticut Volunteer Regiment, shared the life of a Civil War soldier with his wife. Mrs. Pavlick's hour long living history presentation will show her female ancestor's thoughts and views on life in 1863 and will be followed by a discussion period. Join anthropologist and Litchfield Hills Archaeology Club president Andrea Rand in a Spring walk through the the beautiful Peoples State Forest in Barkhamsted to visit the 3,500 year old soapstone quarries. If time permits, we will also visit the Lighthouse Site, the remains of what was once a thriving early historic Native American community made famous by archaeologist Dr. Ken Feder in his book "A Village of Outcasts".
