Join us on Saturday, April 28th at 11:00 am in the Wykeham Room of the Gunn Memorial Library as Washington resident and astronomy enthusiast Ray Reich demonstrates how to observe the night sky with a ‘2012 Star Gazer Almanac’. Learn to recognize the wonders of our changing night sky – every night of the year, as you explore the night sky. Ray will demonstrate how to use the easy-to-follow sky gazer almanac, a unique tool that allows you to track the planets, locate the moon and the Milky Way and watch meteor showers. It's designed specifically for naked-eye astronomy - no telescope required, making it ideal for beginners, children and backyard astronomers. Each participant will be provided with a ‘Star Gazer Almanac’ which shows all major night sky planets and stars for 2012. Ray Reich is a retired physics and astronomy teacher. Art Forms, the Palace Theater's third annual Gallery Viewing that highlights artwork from award-winning Connecticut artists, premieres its 2012 showcase at the Fine Line Art Gallery, 319 Main Street South in Woodbury, on Saturday, April 28, from 4p.m. – 8p.m. The exquisite showcase will highlight a variety of local artwork from seventeen award-winning artists and will consist of oil, watercolor and pastel painting, as well as photography, pottery, jewelry and several other types of creative expression.  Hosted by Fine Line Art Gallery owner Mally DeSomma, along with Barbara Morcey and Palace Board Member Dr. Lisa Veiga, the event serves as a benefit for the non-profit theater's Annual Campaign. Founded in 1994, Woodbury's Fine Line Art Gallery is a cooperative artists' showroom and retail store with the mission of promoting the work of local artists, as well as raising the awareness and appreciation of the various art forms located at the gallery. The gallery boasts a wide variety of work, which reflects the artists' eyes for design and the world that surrounds them. 9am-12pm. Join us at the Center for a 1/2 day of invasive plant species removal. Learn proper identification of our common problematic invasive species and how to remove them from your own property as well.  Wear long pants and sturdy work boots and bring work gloves. Some tools will be provided, but bring your own pruning tools if you have them, as well as water to drink.  Registration is highly recommended, though not necessary.
