Sap Bucket Sellabration at Norfolk Library

Norfolk Library Association will host a Sap Bucket Sellabration to raise funds from 6 to 8PM on Friday, August 28, 2009. Each bucket is created with an original design by 28 local artists who donated their skills to the project. The buckets, which are on display at the library, were donated by Great Mountain Forest and Tim Munch, a local sapper. Funds from the event will be used to fund library programs. There is no admission fee, sealed bids are being accepted. Call for further information.

Nemati Collection, a New York City purveyor of fine rugs and tapestries is presenting an eclectic mix of unique woven treasures, including 16-18th century tapestries, 19th century Persian village rugs, and a group of unique mid-twentieth century Swedish carpets. A second generation carpet aficionado, Darius Nemati learned about rugs from his father, who is one of the top experts on rugs, as well as an author on the subject.

On Saturday, August 29, 2009 beginning at 8PM at the Riverton Fairgrounds the Riverton Theatre will present a concert on the banks of the Farmington River. The groups's George and Gracie will recreate the comedy of George Burns and Gracie Allen with music including popular tunes and original compositions by John Carroll and Rebecca Bridges performed by Studio 59 pianist Timothy Alexandre Wallace. Concert proceeds benefit the Tiny Tim Fund to help local children in need. Tickets in advance $10 at Riverton General Store. At the gate: $15. Call for further information. On Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 9AM to 2PM come to the first Norfolk Open Market to be held on the Village Green. You will be able to find antiques, crafts, tag sale items and delicious breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Spend the day: listen to live music, take a horse and carriage ride (weather permitting), purchase a homemade pie or some cotton candy and attend the annual Norfolk Library book sale. At first glance a stone tipped arrow may appear simple, but this couldn't be farther from the truth! Create your own beautiful and functional arrows from local materials under the guidance of craftsman and experimental archaeologist Kevin Brenner. Using traditional techniques and tools you will learn the science and the art that goes into making traditional Eastern Woodland Arrows (stone arrowheads will be provided).

Space is limited to 12 participants, reservations are required.
