Audubon Sharon - Two Free Public Programs - Mushroom Walk and Family Friendly Nature Walk

On Saturday, Microbiologist Richard Novick will lead a Mushroom Walk around the Center grounds from 10am-12pm. Mushrooms are one of those organisms that are misunderstood. Are they plants or not? Are they poisonous or not? Join Richard, along with Audubon Staff members Dave Paton and Zach Adams, as they scour the grounds of the Audubon Center for mushrooms, give tips on identification and talk about edible versus non-edible and poisonous mushrooms.

On Sunday, a Family Friendly Nature Walk will take place from 9-10:30am. Participants will join Center Director Sean Grace on a walk around the grounds in search of birds, wildflowers, ferns, frogs, reptiles, animal signs and whatever else can be found! Pre-registration is appreciated for both programs, but not required. To register, contact the Audubon Center at (860) 364-0520.

Annual Dog Walk -- Sherman

New Fairfield/Sherman Animal Welfare Society will hold its 2014 Dog Walk and Bazaar August 9, 2014 from 9AM to 2PM.  The walk will be held on the Mallory Trail near Sherman Town Hall.  Vendors will set up on the Sherman Village Green near the trail head.  Walkers register:  $15 before Aug. 9 or $20 day of event.
