38 Main St., Salisbury, CT 06068. Phone: 860-435-2838.

Saturday September 13, 2014,  4:00 p.m. McCann demonstrates once again why he is one of the most acclaimed and essential authors of his generation with a soaring novel that spans continents, leaps centuries, and unites a cast of deftly rendered characters, both real and imagined. From British aviators Alcock and Brown who made the first nonstop transatlantic flight, from Newfoundland to Ireland, to Frederick Douglass on an international lecture tour in Ireland in support of his subversive autobiography,  to Senator George Mitchell  negotiating the Irish peace accord in 1998, this novel set across different times and in many different places is a tour-de-force.  McCann creates complex, vivid characters while expertly mixing fact and fancy to create this emotionally involving and eminently memorable novel.
