On Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 12Noon to 5PM celebrate Earth Day at The Aldrich through drawing. Collaborate with other visitors and create a mural in our Education Center, and build and decorate biodegradable planting pots. Extreme Draw On! works toward bringing the community together through drawing, engaging people of all ages and encouraging creativity. This year, Extreme Draw On! will run from Sunday, March 24 through Saturday, May 4, coinciding with our Extreme Drawing exhibition. On Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 6:30PM at the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre at the Warner Theatre the Litchfield County Writers Project presents Harvey Hubbell.  Emmy award-winning filmmaker Hubbell will discuss the making of Dislecksia: The Movie and host a panel after the showing. Dislecksia: The Movie is a comic documentary on the often misunderstood subject of dyslexia.  Its mission is to create public awareness by demonstrating what dyslexia is.   A reception will follow the event.  Further information check the website or email.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday The 14th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry Company F will set-up camp in the Historical Society's yard and practice military drills and conduct weapons firing demonstrations. At noon, a cook will show how meals were prepared over open fire. Visitors will also learn the role nurses played and about the life of Corporal Joseph Pierce and the history of the 14th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry.
