The Litchfield Historical Society continues its annual walking tours with some exciting topics being covered in July and August. During each tour, a museum educator or guest tour guide offers participants a new way to look at their surroundings with themed walks through Litchfield’s history. Each tour lasts about an hour—make sure to bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable shoes! Tours begin at 10:00 am and leave from the Litchfield History Museum.

Saturday, August 9th: Litchfield’s Churches - Come explore the churches of Litchfield and hear tales of the clergymen who stood at the pulpits. We will peek into these buildings, get to know their architectural features, and discuss how the clergy dictated life in 18th - and 19th -century Litchfield.

Spend the night camping with your family or friends at the Ansonia Nature Center or relax in your chaise lounge for the evening while we search the night skies for "shooting stars." Bob Carruthers and the New Haven Astronomical Society will be here to answer any questions about the Perseid meteor showers. We will also enjoy a nice fire and stories at Picnic Pavilion #2, where we will make everyone's favorite camping treat—s'mores.
