Keynote speaker, Dr. George Garland, who will be introduced by Joseph Baxer, President of the United Nations Association of CT, explores the critical environmental issues vital to the sustainable future of the planet. As leaders gather in Paris from around the world in a "climate summit," agreements made will depend on their understanding, support and implementation globally and specifically within each country and region. Following Dr. Garland's lecture, Carlos Canal, President of Washington Environmental Council, will speak about WEC's activities. Students from Shepaug Valley School will explain models they have created to illustrate the effect of climate change on the environment.

Retelling the story of the nativity, as only Sister can, this hilarious holiday production is bound to become a yearly classic. 'Amahl and the Night Visitors' renews holiday tradition at WCSU Opera to stage 21st annual production of Menotti classic Dec. 11 & 12, 2015. The Western Connecticut State University Opera will present the holiday classic "Amahl and the Night Visitors" in two performances at the university at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. This year's presentation will mark the 21st annual WCSU Opera production of the English-language opera by Gian Carlo Menotti, originally commissioned for broadcast on the NBC television network in December 1951. Both performances of the one-act opera will be in Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the university's Midtown campus.
