02/15/2015

38 Curtis Road, Washington, CT 06793. Phone: 860-868-0518.

As Native people across New England lost nearly all of their reservation lands, Indians privately purchased property. In many cases, forming connecting communities and neighborhoods of color – from rural to urban, and even out to sea. In fact, hundreds of Indian men sought work off the coast – forming new kinds of communities amongst themselves as they traveled the world, interacting with other indigenous peoples. Join Dr. Jason Mancini, interim director at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. as he  explores the many experiences local Native people historically navigated – by land and by sea. Museum Admission:  $8 Adults; $6 Seniors; $5 Children (3-12 yrs); IAIS Members Free
