July 27, 11am – Wind Socks, explore the power of wind and make your own outdoor wind sock. Colette’s Summer Craft Series kicks off with Let’s Do Magic. Each week a new activity and theme will be introduced allowing children and families to explore a variety of crafts and projects, each week is an individual program, so sign up for one or all 5. On Saturday July 28 at 11AM and 1PM the Torrington Parks and Recreation Commission and the Torrington Historical Society will sponsor two vintage baseball games.  Admission is $5 and proceeds will benefit the United Way of Northwest CT.  The rules of baseball changed often as the game evolved in the 19th century.  The first game between the Simsbury Taverneers and the Newtown Sandy Hooks wil be played according to the rules of 1886.  Visit the Torrington Historical Society booth and see photographs of local teams from the turn of the last century.

We will be featuring artisanal cheeses from world renowned Cow Girl Creamery of California, Oregon's blue cheese renowned Rougue Creamery, the USA's best cheddar from Fiscalini, New York's 5 Spoke Creamery and Litchfield's very own .Arethusa Farm Dairy. Pairings will be held at 1 and 3pm each day and include a tasting of each Haight-Brown wine from Bubbly through whites, red and fruits.  Each wine will be paired with an artisanal cheese from one of the dairies mentioned above or a Lake Champlain Chocolate. On Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10AM at the Scovile Library, Salisbury the Sharon Audubon will hold a program on Eastern Golden Eagles.  Mr. Todd Katzner, Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Forestry and Natural Resources at West Virginia University and a co-founder of the wildlife telemetry company Cellular Tracking Technologies, LLC, will be discussing his team's research on Golden Eagles and how wind turbines are affecting migration routes.
