On Saturday October 11th and Sunday the 12th of Columbus Day Weekend, the Town of Cornwall, Ct., will present "Cornwall Days," a celebration of the tastes, treats and beauties of the town. The salute to the 150th anniversary of Cornwall’s rust-red, iconic Covered Bridge includes demonstrations, artist tours, and "Pumpkinfest 2014," which includes contests for pumpkin
carving and for best pumpkin pies. Events will be held around the town and centered on the two village centers of Cornwall Bridge and West Cornwall, both located on Route 7 in the NW corner of the state. The Covered Bridge is located at the intersection of Routes 128 and 7, where it spans the beautiful.

Mysterious Mosses & Beautiful Bryophytes--Saturday, October 11 | 10 AM | Sugar House. Take a second look at the natural world by sharpening your focus on the world of bryophytes! Join us as Flanders welcomes UCONN Ph.D. candidate Lily Lewis for a talk and walk focusing on mosses and other bryophytes!  Bryophytes include the world of mosses and liverworts, small creatures which can have a big impact on our understanding of the natural world.  Come find out how & why! After a brief talk, we will venture onto the nearby trails in search of our quarry. Come prepared for light hiking.  Hand lenses and appropriate literature will be available for the workshop, and notebooks are recommended for taking drawings and notes.  All are welcome; please register early!
