9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parent and children, together, create a beautiful gingerbread house to take home. Decorate with over 85 kinds of candy, don't miss the FUN! Offered two ways. Traditional: Parents and children (ages 5 and up) team up to create their own beautiful gingerbread house from scratch to take home. Already Standing: For those with less time and younger children. Your gingerbread house is already assembled and standing. All you do is decorate! (Note: If you would like an "Already Standing" gingerbread house for any of our gingerbread classes, call the Cooking School with your request when you register so we may accommodate you.) $85 per house for each parent/child or adult team. All day Saturday, December 14, 2013 the merchants and organizations in Seymour will transform their town into Bedford Falls, NY from the classic film "It's A Wonderful Life".  The All-American Valley General Store will be transformed into Mr. Grower's Drugstore and host a pancake breakfast with Santa from 9:15AM to 1PM.  Between 11AM and noon, Kim Dulka, owner of the general store will sign copies of a children's book she self-published. Farming with Rolo Coloring & Activity Book based on her experiences growing up on her family's farm in Seymour.  From 1-5PM there will be horse-drawn carriage rides through downtown.  At 4PM the journey lights up with white luminarias.  Draft horses will pull the carriage which seats up to 25 people.  Cost $5.  A five-course dinner seating is from 5-6:30PM -- $30 per person.  Second dinner is from 6:45PM to 8:15PM and will include a ticket to the 8:45PM screening of "It's a Wonderful Life".  This is the second year the All-American Valley General Store has hosted this town celebration.  On Saturday, visitors can stop by the American Legion on Bank St. and pay $1 to ring its large bell.  Come to Seymour and join in the movie fun. Downtown Seymour will host George Bailey's Adventure Raffle and discounts and savings at local businesses. 

Christmas Train Show at The Torrington Armory

The Show is opened 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, Sat., December 14th  and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday, December 15th.  Members of the Torrington Area Model Railroaders Club host his show, featuring operating trains running on three layouts, as well as demonstrations of modeling railroad techniques and discussions about model trains as a hobby or as a holiday gift.

Brookfield Historical Society Hosts 3rd Annual Traditional  Christmas Open House Weekend--Time and Date of Event: Saturday December 14, Sunday December 15 2013,  Noon to 4 PM--Place of Event: Brookfield Museum 165 Whisconier Road (Intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center.  Brief Description:  Emily Dlugozima of Brookfield watches Howdy Doody as he enjoys riding in his vintage Mercedes Benz peddle car. He will return once again this year as the Brookfield Historical Society,  hosts its third annual  Traditional Christmas Open House Weekend event at the Brookfield Museum, Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15, 2013 from Noon to 4 P.M.   Santa will be stopping by with his helpers bearing complimentary treats for the kids. The sight of operating Model trains in a winter display, will entertain children of all ages, while the sound of antique music boxes will fill the air with well-known Christmas musical classics. Vintage toys dating back to the 50s and beyond along old time Christmas decorations  will bring back memories of holidays past. It's all free and attendees will be treated to complimentary homemade Christmas cookies and assorted pastries, as well as hot chocolate and mulled cider.  In addition some hand crafted items will be on sale from our gift shop and local craft artisans. The  Brookfield Museum is located at the 165 Whisconier Road (junction of Routes 25 and 133) in Brookfield Center.  This event is must see visit for adults and children that is guaranteed to get everyone into the spirit of the season.
