Litchfield, CT -- Contact: Janet L. Serra For Immediate Release 860-567-4506 email@example.com They'll fly through the air with the greatest of ease, those daring ski jumpers in Salisbury, Connecticut. On February 12th and 13th, 2005, some of the best at this exhilarating sport will gather for competitions and the U.S. Eastern National Championships at Salisbury's Satre Hill. Even the most sedentary spectators will appreciate the extraordinary coordination and skill required to make a 64-meter jump soaring almost 210 feet-- with a happy landing. These graceful athletes, often including some of our Olympic contenders, have been showing off their style each year for some 79 years, under the auspices of the Salisbury Winter Sports Association. The Junior event on Saturday, February 12, will begin at 9 a.m., featuring 20 and 30 meter jumps, meaning leaps of from 65 to 98 feet. The Salisbury Invitational Ski 64-meter Jump will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, and the U.S. Eastern National Championships 64-meter jump will be held on Sunday, February 13th, at 1 p.m. Coffee and hot chocolate will be served at a convenient stand to keep spectators warm, and there will be plenty of time to explore the charming town of Salisbury with its many intriguing shops, and to visit the White Hart, the classic New England inn, on the green.
