12. John and Mary Rider House and The John Dodd Hat Shop Museum

Your next stop is The Danbury Historical Society located on your left with three museums on its grounds.

The first is the 1785 colonial styled John and Mary Rider House that showcases exhibits reflecting the foundation of Danbury and life in the town before, during and after the Revolutionary War.

The John Dodd Hat Shop (c. 1790) behind the Rider House offers a fascinating glimpse into the art of hatting. Exhibits detail the processes used in hat production and displays the countless variety of hats manufactured in Danbury.
